Luno forward cabin inflatable mattress provides an extra bed for motorhomes
Luno brought its vehicle-based Airbed 2.0 to market at the right time, giving travel-hungry hordes a simple and affordable way to turn an average car into a lightweight, COVID-safe RV. Now it’s back to making the average motorhome a bigger and safer family motorhome for COVID. Perfect for #vanlife newlyweds-turned-parents or grandparents creating an unforgettable road tour for their grandchild, Luno’s new Front Cab airbed adds an extra berth to the all-American motorhome, turning a two-berth into a small family van.
Last month, Luno detailed the exponential growth it has enjoyed over the past year. And expanding his customer base will only help him sustain that growth. The average RV owner doesn’t need an inflatable vehicle mattress since they’re already cruising the earth in a tiny house on wheels, but an extra berth? That could definitely come in handy, especially if he neatly takes up space in the otherwise unused vehicle at camp.
More than just a mattress that rests on the front seats, Luno’s Forward Cabin Air Mattress is a complete kit designed to work with many of the most popular full-size vans on the US market. Like Luno’s original air mattresses, the kit includes a platform extension, in this case a T-shaped inflatable that fills both legs and the space between the front seats to create a platform under the mattress. support in conjunction with the seats. This maximizes the sleeping area, allowing the mattress to comfortably fill the entire forward cabin space.
The front mattress is suitable for an adult up to 1.7m (5ft 7in) but is probably best left as a toddler bed so you don’t bang your head and feet against doors and/or or the steering wheel. Luno says kid or pet friendly, but creative RVers with young children and pets might be able to squeeze a pair in without too lots of discomfort, foot fights between angry siblings or accidental honking at midnight. Heavy-duty 300D Oxford nylon fabric is built to withstand wear and tear.
Luno says the forward cabin mattress and extension inflate in less than three minutes and fold up in even less time using the included rechargeable battery-powered vacuum pump/defulator. The kit packs into a 22 x 19 inch (56 x 48 cm) and 13 pound (5.9 kg) package when not in use, easily fitting into a large pickup truck.
Luno designed the Front Cab mattress kit to fit the Ram/Dodge ProMaster and select Mercedes-Benz Sprinter vans, and it has also partnered with Winnebago to offer it to ProMaster-based Travato and Solis motorhomes . The kit costs $400.
Luno showcased its full line at last month’s Overland Expo West and will offer products at the upcoming SEMA show through a partnership with an automaker.
